I’m not sure if it’s the unseasonably warm weather, but I’m really behind on my Christmas prep this year.  The most behind I’ve ever been.  But that still doesn’t mean that we don’t have the Christmas spirit in our house.  There was a lot of it this past weekend and we got lots done around the house.

We finally managed to get our tree decorated, and the girls had a great time putting up ornaments.  This is the first year they’ve really understood what’s going on, so we’ve been having lots of fun!

I finally got around to my Christmas baking.  This years batches were pared down from previous, but I picked three really quick and easy recipes that really reflect the flavours of the season.  If you’re looking for some last minute baking ideas, you can try these candy cane blossoms, or check out the Magnolia Bakery cookbook for some classic snickerdoodles and iced molasses cookies.

I really left my Christmas cards late this year.  Luckily, our wonderful photographer had our pictures to us quickly and we ended up printing photo cards from Costco, which only took a day to process!  I’ve seen a lot of beautiful cards from Minted on social media this past week and I think I might keep that in mind for next year.  If you’re still scrambling to get cards done, don’t fret, there are lots of Christmas cards on sale already and if you have pictures to send as well, just print them out and insert them inside.  Mail out the ones to those you won’t see this season and hand deliver or attach to a gift (or a tin of those homemade cookies above) for the rest.

At this time of year, when we’re all wrapped up in getting things done, don’t forget to take a few minutes and be grateful for all we have and just enjoy the moment!
