Hey Everyone, Happy Friday!  As a self-professed bookworm, I’m in constant search for new books to read.  With the weekend quickly approaching I thought I’d share my most recent reads, should you feel the need to check out something new.

Let me preface my list by saying I often get stuck on one author for a while (you’ll see).  For a long time it was anything and everything by James Patterson but I decided I need to branch out and check out some new stuff.

Rainbow Rowell

Landline
Eleanor & Park
Fangirl

I recently read 3 novels by Rainbow Rowell.  Landline is her first adult contemporary fiction novel while the other 2 fall under the young adult genre (you may come to find I read a lot of YA fiction).  I loved all 3 of these books.  I found they all began a little slow and took me about 50-100 pages to really figure out what was going on, but once I was in I was hooked!

Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl
Dark Places

OK, don’t hate me for what I’m about to write, but I am not a Gillian Flynn fan.  Of the two books, Dark Places was definitely more appealing to me but Gone Girl was very disappointing.  Maybe it’s because I found it predictable or that I despised all of the characters, then again, maybe Flynn wanted us not to like any of them.  But all in all, everyone I talked to told me I’d LOVE Gone Girl and I wouldn’t be able to put it down, and I didn’t feel that way at all!

Sarah Addison Allen

First Frost

I neither loved nor hated this book.  It’s a really nice story drawing on family history and how it’s shaped the lives of the family members living, but the story was really, really slow.  It did have a warm, fuzzy ending so it made it worth sticking it out through the entire book.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!
